If Cars Could Talk – The Ferrari Racing History of the Northwest

June 15 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

As a teenager and young man, road racing historian Martin Rudow witnessed first-hand the racing exploits of every 1950s and 1960s Ferrari to race in the Northwest. Join Rudow as he shares these memories in an America’s Car Museum “If Cars Could Talk” presentation about these special cars and their drivers.

Ferrari is the featured marque at this year’s Pacific Northwest Historics, making it the perfect time for this retrospective. Hear about the locally-owned Ferraris that, before racing here in the PNW, won races including Le Mans and Sebring and were raced by such notables as Juan Manuel Fangio, Phil Hill, Richie Ginther, and Stirling Moss. What these cars accomplished before they came here, when they raced here, and what became of them after they left local ownership will make a fascinating hour-long presentation.

As part of the day’s events, the “Carrera Pan Americana” Ferrari 375MM raced here in 1955 by Ken Miles and nationally by Phil Hill will be on display on the Anderson Plaza at the entrance to the Museum.

There are many chapters to the story of the automobile. If cars could talk, they might just share stories we never imagined. Each month, our speaker will pick a car or automotive topic and offer a fascinating peek into its history. Join us and explore the story of cars with Museum curators, staff or local personalities over lunch.

If Cars Could Talk is FREE for ACM Members and is also included with Museum admission. Bring a lunch to enjoy, light refreshments provided.
